Events


Axe Throw:

Contestants will throw an axe at a target from a distance of 20 feet.
Contestants will be given one practice throw.
Score will be determined on a combination of three throws.

 

 

Underhand Chop:

Contestants will stand on their block and chop each side until the block is severed.
Contestants will being on “GO” any contestant hitting the block before go will be disqualified.
Heats will be judged on time unless otherwise specified.
Time will stop once block is completely severed.

 

Standing Chop:

Blocks will be held vertically in a stanchion simulating felling a tree.
Contestants will being on “GO” any contestant hitting the block before go will be disqualified.
Heats will be judged on time unless otherwise specified.Time will stop once block is completely severed.

 

Springboard Chop:sprinboard

Springboard poles are 9 feet tall.
Contestants are to use two springboards to ascend to the top of the pole, and chop a firmly attached block from the top of the pole.
The block is to be cut from both sides.
Contestants will being on “GO” any contestant hitting the block before go will be disqualified.
Heats will be judged on time unless otherwise specified.Time will stop once block is completely severed.

 

Log Roll:logroll

A pair of competitors using peaveys will roll a 14-foot log between two sets of stakes set 40 feet apart.
Once both stakes are touched the competitors will turn and roll the log back to the start to touch the stakes at the start.
Hands and feet may not touch the log during rolling.
The peavey is not to be under or touching the log before “GO”.
Time stops when judge signals.

 

Cross Cut:X-cut

A pair of competitors will make one or more cuts on the end of a log.
Incase of a partial cut a second cut is allowable; however, the time will not stop until the log is completely cut.

 

 

 

Singlebuck

Single Buck:

A competitor will make one or more cuts on the end of a log.
The entire block must be completely cut.

 

 

 

Bow Saw:Bow Saw

A Bow Saw is to be run by one competitor.
An equal number of cuts will be made on the end of a log.
Incase of a partial cut a second cut is allowable; however, the time will not stop until the log is completely cut.

 

 

Modified Chainsaw (Hot Saw):hotsaw

Saws are very loud, ear protection is encouraged!
No limitation on horsepower but a chainsaw may only have one piston.
Competitors will be allowed five minutes of warm-up/prep time, with all saws in the ring, and then shut off.
Competitors will make three cuts in the following order: one DOWN cut, one UP cut, one DOWN cut.
Competitors will be given 5 minutes at end of event to flush fuel from saws.

 

Pole Felling: 

A stake will be provided to each contestant. The stake must be placed at a minimum distance away from the base of the pole. The objective of the event is to fell the poll as close to the steak as possible.
This event will be judged solely on distance from the stake, with time used to break ties.
A hit will be awarded if the pin is disturbed in any manner on the initial downward motion of the pole, and not on a bounce.
If not a hit, the pole must be placed back in the position where it initially hit the ground. This is to be done by the timer and/or judge, not the contestant.  The distance away will be measured from the edge of the stake to the nearest edge of the pole.
